브리즈번(Brisbane)은 오스트레일리아 퀸즐랜드 주의 주도이자 가장 인구가 많은 도시이다. 오스트레일리아 전체에서는 세 번째로 많다. 브리즈번 대도시권의 인구는 220만 명으로, 브리즈번을 중심으로 하는 동남 퀸즐랜드 광역도시권의 인구는 300만 그 이상이다.[2] 원래 유럽인들이 건설한 브리즈번 중심 업무 지구는 모터만 입구에서 약 15 kilometres (9 mi) 떨어진 브리즈번 강이 굽혀지는 안쪽에 위치 해 있다.대도시권은 브리즈번 강 골짜기와 모터만, 그레이트디바이딩 산맥 사이 범람원을 따라 발전했다. 브리즈번 데모님은 브리즈버나이트(Brisbanit)라고 부른다.
18세기 유럽인들의 탐험으로 세상에 알려졌으며, 호주 내 다른 지역에 비해 기후가 따뜻하고 특히 브리즈번 강 주변의 토양이 비옥하여 농업이 발달하였고, 19세기부터 대량 이주가 시작되었다. 19세기 뉴사우스웨일스 주의 인구급증으로 분리, 독립하면서 상공업도시로 발전을 거듭하였다. 제2차 세계 대전 당시 전략적 요충지였으며, 현재는 호주의 새로운 성장동력으로 입지를 굳혀가고 있다.
