  • Our School Vision

  • Man cannot learn without images - St Augustine

It is our pleasure to share our vision with you and to give you a glimpse of life at Chiswick House School and St Martin's College.

Our belief is that children can realise their full potential within a well-ordered and challenging educational setting. We have established a framework of real values that aims at ensuring the acquisition of basic skills within an exciting programme which implements a broad based curriculum and translates into high academic achievement.

The Curriculum ensures continuity - starting from Early Years and ending at Sixth Form level. It has been developed through continuous updating processes that have retained the essential basics while adopting key new developments. The use of technology in the classroom, the importance of sharing educational experiences  with others, in Malta and abroad, the introduction of Performance Management and the 'thinking in time' approach are but a few innovative practices already in place.

We have seen how children can flourish within a climate that respects individuality, allows for creative expression and gives space to explore new ideas within safe parameters. We believe that the images in this website clearly capture this climate. Learning is such a natural and wonderful phenomenon but such a complex one! Self-discipline and excellent home-school relations are key components of success. Parents are viewed as keen collaborators in all school activities and essential stakeholders throughout their children's Kindergarten, Junior, Middle, Senior and Sixth Form years.

It is our hope that every student will leave Chiswick House School and St Martin's College equipped with happy images of precious moments in time, an array of academic achievements and a well-developed personality. In short, educated human beings who value competence, diversity, spirituality and life.

    Bernadine Mizzi

  • Our Language Policy

    • The Language Policy at Chiswick House School and St Martin's College

Given our bilingual national setting, pupils of Chiswick House School who are Maltese citizens learn Maltese and English during their Early Years, and go on to perfect their speaking, listening, writing and communication skills throughout their Primary and Secondary years. By the time they leave Fifth Form, we expect our Maltese students to become competent and enthusiastic users of both languages.

    • Our Parents

We believe in keeping close contact with parents who are prime stakeholders in their children's education. Communication with parents is kept open at all times. For this purpose we organise various Parents' meetings early in the scholastic year. Newsletters are sent to them regularly and they are invited to our Parent Participation Programme Sessions where interesting educational topics are discussed.

Two Parents' Days are organised each year. Parents are also encouraged to participate in pupils' educational excursions and parties organised by the school. Various committees including a fund - raising circle welcome those parents able and willing to give their time and energy.

    • International Programme

      • Chiswick House School and St Martin's College offer an International Programme designed to cater for the needs of our international students, in line with the Common European Framework (Council of Europe 2001).

International students who decide not to follow the Maltese course, have the option, against payment, of taking up lessons in another language.  Students from Early Years 3/Level 1 up to Level 11  will be given the opportunity of replacing Maltese lessons with either Spanish or English as a Foreign Language (EFL), while Italian lessons (for native speakers) will be offered to students from Early Years 3/Level 1 to Level 11.

      • Chiswick House School Malta - International pupil
    •                                                                                                                                                                     The idea behind EFL lessons is to give international students the best chance of reaching a level which will allow them to participate fully in mainstream English classes. Thus, EFL classes will be followed for as many terms as is deemed necessary by both the students and the school, until the required standard is reached.  In particular cases, where a student is seen to have little or no command of the English Language, the school might make the EFL course mandatory.

Depending on their individual levels and their subsequent progress throughout the scholastic year, students may be offered the opportunity to sit for the English Cambridge exams, or the DELE (Spanish Certificate).
